In de Endourologie kan er gebruik worden gemaakt van de eigen anatomie om toegang te krijgen tot het urinewegsysteem. Op deze manier kunnen afwijkingen binnen de urinewegen minimaal invasief worden behandeld. In het geval van hoge urinewegkanker kan op deze manier bij geselecteerde patiënten verwijdering van de nier worden voorkomen. Het is een vakgebied waar de ontwikkeling van technologie nooit stil staat, waarbij het voor ons een mooie uitdaging is om hieraan bij te dragen. Voor de zorg van hoge urinewegtumoren is het AmsterdamUMC erkent als Expertisecentrum sinds 2021.
